Spirent Abacus Rackmount System Controller P/N 82-01600

Abacus1 is a modular and expandable test system that creates telephone traffic (bulk call generator) or switches telephone traffic (central office emulator).

Abacus1 can perform the functions of a call generator and a call switch simultaneously in the same system. Hardware is controlled by an external PC running Abacus1 user interface software under the Windows XP Professional operating system.

Components of Base Subsystem

• System Controller (SC): provides DC power and distributes test parameters to one or two CG shelves, and also gathers test data from those shelves

• Circuit Generator (CG) Shelf: houses 1 to 20 CG or RG subsystems on a common midplane

• Power and Interface (PI) Subsystem: distributes power and data to the Abacus1 midplane

• Cables: intra-system and to connect to serial port on user’s PC

• User interface software: 32-bit application that runs under Windows

• Power consumption: maximum 300 W for entire system
